File extension check

A simple regular expression to check the file extension..
This below example shows how to check for .csv file
Correct Input: hello.csv, xsd.csv
Wrong Input: sk.xsl, sda.csv.sd
Expression: ".+\.csv?$"

.NET calling Apache FOP

This is an follow-up comment to the article IKVM, which describes 'calling Apache FOP from C# or VB.NET'.

Just some additional comments.

1.As specified in the article, while compiling fop.jar into .NET assembley, dont forget to add reference to the .dll file avalon-framework-cvs-20020806.dll, otherwise you will get an error saying java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org.apache.avalon.framework.logger.ConsoleLogger .

2. Atleast in my PC, the fop.jar file from apache site itself is working fine. You dont need to download the patched fop.jar

3. Calling Apache FOP from C# web application

This is a sample code snippet which shows how to call Apache FOP from C#.NET, the below code will convert a XML file to PDF. The xml file is an pre generated xsl:fo file.

Reminders: We know what it all about.It can be set on your mobiles, handheld devices, email systems and so on.
Well I was thinking, how useful it will be if we have a website/tool like...."I will go and type the task that i want to assign for someone whom i know for my purpose."
Example:
The better-half can set a reminder for her hubby to buy cereal powder for the baby at around 18.30
A person can set a reminder to his/her friend in another country saying "post the DVD pack today"

The good thing here is the receiver dont need to over work on his/her schedule, its the sender problem.
The only problem is set a standard for interoperable access of the data sent from site to the handheld/email devices.

Air based charger

Like wind-mill.. We can try to make use of the pressure that occurs when you are driving a car or sitting in an open bus. In India some of the village buses got open windows, normally buses drive at 50km/h which inturn forces lot of air in your face, we can use this wind power to rotate a set of fan blade like plates and turn that roatation force in to motor energy. This motor energy can create DC electricity which can be used to charge your discman battery or cell phone battery.
This idea can also be used while using car escp when you are driving from LA to Texas or CA.
Late back Chinese-Taiwainese introduced a kind of self chargeble fan with batteries in it, this fans had a larger market swipe in north India once. The same idea can be appiled for this.
May have good market in Asian and African countries.

Wireless music - home cinema

I was thinking how easier it will be if we have a wireless music.
Everyone have songs in their PC/laptop. Like wireless internet, we will have music router which will receive music played by the laptop/pc using real player or winamp and then feed them to our home cinema system. You can play your songs in realplayer but hear them on your home cinema system.
A small usb memory stick like device will transmit the songs to the music receiver.

I guess sony is having a product on it.

On-Demand songs in car radio

World is becoming more wireless now. Most of the telecom providers started plotting wireless access point all across their service area. We can make use of that same logic or architecture to publish songs over the air. Persons driving in the car can register to this service (say wireless music on-demand service) and listen to the songs. We can also let the person to create his/her own playlist while he/she register for the service.Mobile phones can also used as the service clients. Car-radio makers can create devices capable of receiving this song waves.

Laptop bag

I always wonder why we have such a big bag for laptops... the so-called "laptop bags", they are big and not handy for daily use. It would be great if we have bag which would look just like a slick CD cover, that is no extra space, no extra packets, just a slick cover for laptop. The glass material which use for making Bus windscreen can be used for this. It can both protect the laptop and also weightless. Even a slick Italian leather help. Students in Universities and travelmates will sure like this kind of model.

Ginger and Garlic puncher

Most of the Indian and Asian cooking cant avoid ginger and garlic. Ginger and garlic paste is available in super market but they are old and imported from nowhere. It will be more easier if we have ginger and garlic puncher instead of buying a 100bucks electornic-Mixer. Two parts:a hollow cylinder and a piston with one-sided big head. We can buy fresh ginger and garlic, put it inside the hollow cylinder and punch with piston head, Voila you got the minched ginger-garlic paste.
Yes... I got this idea from my Grandma village. I am sure kitchen-wares must have this as a product.
